Bloggers Favorite Things Reveal & Wrap Up

This past month I took part in a Bloggers Favorite Things exchange, where we each got paired up with another blogger to exchange some of our favorite things, just in time for Mother’s Day. Through old school mail because come on, who doesn’t like getting presents in the mail.

The catch was we didn’t know who had us until the favorite things packages arrived in the mail.

In the meantime we also had the fortune of having some great brands participate as sponsors in the exchange. Some of the pretty cool things that showed up at my door were:

Walnut Stripe Cutting Board SchoolHouse Electric

Walnut Cutting Board from Schoolhouse Electric

The Company Store Bedding

Bedding and Comforter from The Company Store

Minted presents

Stationary, prints and wrapping paper from Minted

If you go on Instagram or Twitter and search for the hashtag #bloggerfavthings you can check out all the fun pics of all the different items. You’ll definitely see more of them in future posts, as I’ve already incorporated them into our home decor. The Delta Faucet shower head, that in itself I feel like renovating my bathroom just to make it worthy of the the shower head.

Speaking of home decor, if you’re a big fan of following home decor and design blogs, you’re probably very familiar with Dana from House Tweaking. I found her blog right around the time when she was pregnant with her 3rd, very surprise baby and a friend sent me a link to her bathroom mirror which I instantly fell in love with. You know, aside from everything else in her stunning home and I started following her after that. I relate very much to her story of wanting to downsize (our own house is only 1300 sq feet), leaving a career to stay home (still doing it) and making a house a home with your own hands (working on that one).

So when it turned out Dana was my secret blogging exchange buddy, I thought it was quite serendipitous as I share so much of the same decor aesthetic as she does.

And here’s what was in my package from her, which in a nice twist arrived on my birthday:

Bloggers Favorite Things

It was definitely a great box of favorite things!

I am always looking for good products to use around the house and let me tell you, those Nate Berkus scissors are beloved by so many online so I can’t wait to get to using them.

I love natural cleaning products and my perspective on what I use to wipe my kitchen counter tops with changed over a decade ago after I read a quote (on a Lululemon bag no less) which is part of the companies manifesto. And it said ““Do not use cleaning chemicals on your kitchen counters or floors. Someone will inevitably make a sandwich on your counter.” Ever since then, I’ve practiced that one and have used green cleaners or vinegar. I have never tried Mrs. Meyer’s cleaning products but now get to.

Paper punches, in the shape of a Maple Leaf. Come on if that’s not me then I don’t know what is.

But the sweetest thing was a Canadian bookmark, bookmarked to Dana’s favorite room in the Remodelista book. And that was Architect Kimberly Peck’s kitchen made entirely of IKEA parts but looks unlike any other IKEA kitchen out there. You don’t know anyone here that possibly likes IKEA do you?? Hmm…

Dana I love it all and I love your blog. Thank you for the inspiration, your always honest writing and that Remodelista book is pretty much the kick in the ass that I need to really start getting back to loving our home again. The weather is finally getting better in our part of Canada so I can start doing some projects in our garage again without paint freezing.

A special thanks go out to Jennifer from Rambling Renovators and Stefanie from Brooklyn Limestone for all their hard word at organizing and putting this whole exchange together. It was seriously a nice treat for myself and all of the bloggers participating.

Want to know who I had? Guess? Better yet, go check out everyone’s reveals. It’ll probably be very obvious as soon as you get to her page.

And if you’d love to get your hands on the great items from our Sponsors and some of the Bloggers Favorite Things, Ms. Limestone has put together a Bloggers Favorite Things Gift Guide for your convenience!

When’s the next exchange?!

So awesome to participate on the exchange with you Alex! I love the Canadian flavour of the gifts you received. So great that Dana ended up with your name – getting to know each other was what this was all about 🙂 Now I have to visit the other bloggers and see who you gifted. I’m guessing it has a lovely homemade craft included 😉

The comforter is like butter. Ours was very old so this was extremely welcomed and very much needed!

I miss old school mail. We live in a subdivision where everyone gets a PO Box vs a mailbox. I was like damn that was one of the things I looked forward to the most when we got our home. Having a mailbox at our door.

Seriously, that’s a fantastic gift. I’m filing this for a housewarming present! Half fun, half practical.
