Modern Easter Cards – Learn to make your own!

I made these Modern Easter Cards because Easter and I have a contentious relationship. I don’t know if it’s the pastels, the mysterious basket filling that resembles melted shards of plastic or the complete horror movie factor of bunnies, but unlike Easter’s far away cousin Christmas, this season makes it very hard for me to do holiday crafts for.

Every year I swear I will try to work with Easter and get into the Easter decor. Sometimes I fail. And sometimes I do ok. This year, we’ll see how these go. I decided to give you a bit of a modern makeover from last years fabric cards.

Apparently geometric is the new chevron. Or ikat. Or something to that effect. Alas I did put a bird on it. You are after all, Easter. That’s my excuse.

DIY – MODERN EASTER CARDS

This is the part where I am supposed to write instructions on how to make these, but instead I took photos as I made them, which are pretty self explanatory.

ITEMS NEEDED:

This year I went back to basics, because paper is a lot easier to cut shapes out of than felt. Which I love and started to make these cards with. And then I realized Easter is less than 2 weeks away and that was a really bad idea given the back injury I got making the Christmas ones.

I liked using paper so much this just may become the beginning of a new relationship for us. And you match the DYMO labels on the cards so nicely too. Which for the record, are going on the eggs. But that’s another post.

These are fantastic Alex – I totally love this look! And I’m with you, I choose eggs over bunnies. You have amazing patience with the cut and paste…maybe I used to too…don’t know what happened to it!

Cards are one of the rare things I have patience for but I’ll be the first to admit I really could use a cutting machine at this point for so many paper projects I do.

The bunny one is so cute I was tempted to spend the next 45 minutes tracking down scissors, glue, multiple paper colors… But then I decided to just enjoy yours.

These look amazing! I love that you hand cut everything. I see so many Silhouette and Cricut projects and it’s frustrating because I know I can’t possibly make them, but you? You make teachers feel like it’s still possible to make cute things without fancy machines, and I thank you!!!

I just used card stock that I purchased at Michael’s, scissors and whatever choice of adhesive that you prefer. For the labels I used my DYMO label maker.
