DIY – How to make a Mouse Pad that you can personalize!

You know that moment where you realize it’s time to make a mouse pad? This is what my hand stumbled upon the last time I sat down at the family computer in our living room when I went to click the mouse.

That. That is…was…our mouse pad.

I mean really now.

Ugh. I can’t even find the words. I can’t even believe I am showing you this photo.

Needless to say I made a new one.

DIY – How to make a Mouse Pad that you can personalize!

ITEMS YOU NEED:

STEP 1

I picked up some cork boards from our local Dollar Stores but Amazon has tons of them. We all know that things never last at the Dollar Store, so if you see something, buy it before it’s gone.

STEP 2

Cut them down to size using an X-Acto knife and a ruler over a cutting board (this was 9″H x 7″W)

STEP 3 – Make a Mouse Pad that you can personalize!

And then I thought what can I stencil on this? A number? A picture?

Nah.

Let’s be deliberately facetious and stencil “Mouse Pad”. The hipsters would be proud. It was either that or “Clean Me More Often” as a note to my kids.

You can do whatever you’d like on this. Use a stencil of your choice or write anything you’d like.

I just used basic Acrylic based paint and an alphabet stencil. No additional paint sealing needed.

I don’t know about you, but laptop mouse keys and me do not get along. I need a physical mouse. So this is going to be a staple over in this household.

There. That’s better.

I like it! I did without a mouse pad for a while…and then my desk paid the price! Need to DIY something up! Thanks for the inspiration. Cork is one of my favorite materials.

Thanks Jen! Ack, what happened to the desk? I’m already learning that white desk tops and kids don’t mesh.

The varnish/stain rubbed off. Seems obvious but in all honesty I always though mouse pads were more of an aesthetic thing (or something needed when mouses still had balls). Are you saying I shouldn’t paint our espresso desk white? Cause I was planning on it…

LOL! No, no I am a white paint addict. The desk top however has a big stainless steel computer desk pad. And it has already saved the white desk top a million times over.
