DIY – Thank You Cards

It’s been almost a year since I last did a set of thank you cards. And let me tell you, I have a lot of them that I need to send out. So I made another round and went with a colorful Fall theme this time. I hope they inspire you to make your own DIY Thank you Cards.

Yes you should absolutelu make some DIY Thank You cards.

Why? Because I have yet to hear anyone say, oh man, what a terrible thing I received. Someone took the time to send me their thanks. In a time where DM’s prevail, old school mail and kraft cards? Nice thing to do.

This weekend in Canada, Monday to be specific, is our Thanksgiving. I didn’t want to be too late posting these just in case anyone wanted to get a little inspiration and make their own.Β For our neighbors to the South, if you see Christmas crafts here next month when you’re posting turkey recipes and centerpieces, that’s why.

Canada celebrates Thanksgiving a full month earlier. Then you blink, it’s Halloween, and Christmas carols everywhere.

SUPPLIES USED TO MAKE THESE:

  • Felt
  • Wood Veneer strips
  • Stamp set
  • Kraft paper card stock
  • IKEA’s LAPPLJUNG RANDIG fabric.

I surprisingly rekindled my relationship with my glue gun that I thought had failed me.

Apparently I also decided to cook us Thanksgiving dinner this weekend. That should go swell.

Maybe you’ll see a Christmas card series on here much earlier. Possibly Monday when Sunday I dial up Swiss Chalet.

For what it’s worth, it makes way more sense to me to have Thanksgiving APART from Christmas. The way we do it here, you cram all the stress into 30 days. And at Christmas, when you are running around to multiple family things, you are sort of like – didn’t I just see you?

    Happy Thanksgiving!

See now I have thought the same thing b/c I keep thinking you guys get about a month in between one major meal to another. Then the gifts. Then the decorations. We go into full on Christmas decorating mode right after Remembrance Day in Canada (Nov 11) as a sign of respect. Then literally the 12th it’s Christmas lights out of the garage.

These are so beautiful, Alex! I love your felt handiwork. So gorgeous!

I can’t imagine how I’d react to getting one of these cards. It would probably stay on my mantel for half a year. I’m one of those people. πŸ˜‰

Did you say Mantle? Yeah that’s a must have in our next home. I can’t stand having Christmas without a real fireplace. Trying to explain where Santa leaves presents becomes a work of art.

Pinning because I am starting to collect ideas for diy cards of all kinds. I recently bought an expensive card to mail but I didn’t put the correct amount of postage on it. The card came back to me and I had to re-purchase the entire amount of postage. By the time I was done, it was a costly message to send. Thanks for the inspiration! ~Thea

Been down that road many time! Now whenever I send a card that has any form of layers or texture on it I bring it in to get weighed to make sure the postage doesn’t need to be doubled.

I should have called Swiss Chalet in the end. My squash burnt and I bought the wrong chicken legs that had almost no meat on them. Epic fail.

I think that my kids probably think I am going to be that mom who wants to volunteer at the school events. Like they’re having a dance and I am all soooo…can I decorate the gym?

Alex, your thankful cards are so adorable. I especially like the cut edging on the felt leaves …and that you added some non-traditional colours! I am a bit of a card loving gal (stationery geek, if truth be known) so I can’t help but ‘tweet’ about this. P.S. Nice to meet not only a fellow Canadian blogger but one who loves typography as much as I do! πŸ™‚
