A Review of the Breville Boss Blender – highlighting its best features!

This post is dedicated to our older daughter, otherwise known as the smoothie Queen and why we wound up getting the Breville Boss Blender for our home. Every single day, she would pull out our food processor and make – rather try to make – a fruit smoothie after school. It wasn’t bad at first but then it got old really fast, as lot of the smoothies she likes to drink and attempts at home made Frappuccino’s, ended in spectacular disaster. The food processor was just not cutting it, no pun intended. So while trying to sort out Christmas gift ideas, (which if you have a pre-teen or teen at home, you know the gift card thing gets old really fast) it occurred to us that maybe getting her (read: our family and her) a blender, would actually be an awesome gift idea. Enter the Breville Boss Blender.

A Review of the Breville Boss Blender

Now we are a big Breville family. I love Breville’s products and we use their Scraper Mixer Pro easily, 3 -4 x a week.

(It also comes in black!)

It’s so user friendly our younger daughter makes her own cookies and muffins using it.

In which case, it was a no brainer to look into Breville’s line of Blenders and I became completely smitten with the Breville Boss Blender. I was looking for a user friendly blender, that our daughter could use on her own and one that didn’t require us to constantly use a spatula to “loosen up” the inside mixture. I also wanted one specifically that could pulverize ice cubes, frozen fruits and a one touch Smoothie button. Who has time to fiddle around with complicated settings and sort out what speeds are optimal for blending vegetables.

I’ve owned blenders before and all of them are no longer in our house because they just could not do the job. I’ll be quite honest, in this category of appliances (and I talk about appliances a great deal on social media), you get what you pay for. A $25 blender is not going to give you the results that you get from the places you go to buy a smoothie or a frozen latte and so on. If you’re dreaming of a good smoothie every day in the comfort of your own home, you need to invest in a good machine.

And this is definitely it.

Here are some of my personal favourite things about The Breville Boss blender.

  • Blade System: ProKinetix Blade and Bowl System designed with 3 powerful stainless steel blades contoured to the base of the jug for maximum cutting power and processing results.
  • LCD Display:
LCD display counts up on speed settings and down for pre-programmed settings for complete control when blending
  • Auto Clean Function:
To easily clean around the blades
  • Ice Crushing (this was a BIG deal to us):
Crush Ice into snow for velvety cocktails
  • Jug Capacity:
Large 68 oz (2.0 liter) shatterproof jug (it’s a BPA-Free Tritan jug, meaning it’s not made of glass)
  • Power:
    1500W (3.5 Peak Horsepower motor*)

And one of the best things?

  • Warranty:
    7 Year Limited Product Warranty

Seven year warranty! I for one really appreciate a company who stands behind their products and a 7 year warranty is exceptional. And if you’re wondering how it stands up to the Vitamix? Go see for yourself on Breville’s You Tube channel where they have a series of videos showing you just that.

Since its arrival in our home, we’ve used it every single day. My current fave button on it is the Pulse Ice button. We use that first to loosen up the ice cubes and frozen fruits (you press it once and it does the rest) and after that’s done, we press the smoothie button and that’s it. Super easy.

It also comes with a retractable cord (because no one likes wrapping cords around their appliances).

The lid is very secure when in use but also easy to take off and those super sharp blades are amazing.

Today we made a simple chocolate smoothie (a.k.a a fancy way of calling it a chocolate milk frosty chiller type of drink). You can sweeten it more by adding some sugar or Stevia in there, depending on your taste preference. Most days I just toss in some chocolate chips.

  • 1/2 cup of plain Greek yogurt
  • 1/4 cup of chocolate syrup
  • 1 cup of milk
  • 1/2 cup of ice
  • Whipped cream on top (optional)

Our older daughter is ecstatic to have this our home! Be prepared, lots of smoothie recipes coming up soon.

Now. Breville is about to make someone really happy this Holiday season as they are generously offering a chance for one lucky reader to…
